Social Summer: 3 Marketing Tips for LinkedIn

Welcome to Quiet Corner Communications’ Social Summer Series where we bring you the hottest marketing tips for each of the major social media platforms! As the summer winds down and our thoughts turn back to work, we thought it was a good time to take a dip into the LinkedIn waters!

The 3 tips you need for DIY LinkedIn marketing success

  1. Take advantage of articles — LinkedIn allows users to post articles, with no word limit and all the functionality you expect from a blogging platform. It’s a great way to start establishing your reputation as a thought leader, and a great way to reuse content. We love to give our old blog posts new life by republishing them on LinkedIn — making our content work smarter and harder.

  2. Get engaged — It goes without saying that to be successful on a social media platform, you need to actually post, and in the case of LinkedIn it’s important to do it both from your business page as well as your personal account. But it’s also important to engage with other users, and on LinkedIn, it’s all about thoughtful comments. Liking and sharing posts aren’t enough, you have to show that you’re an engaged member of the community by leaving thoughtful comments and sharing your own insights (see #1).

  3. Don’t be boring — Listen, we could have rounded this list out with any number of tips, but with roughly 100k articles published on LinkedIn every week, it all boils down to this… DON’T BE BORING. That much competition means you should experiment with video or just get professional help crafting great articles with actionable takeaways — however you do it, don’t be afraid to showcase your personality and build a personal brand.

*Bonus Tip: LinkedIn ads have gotten good, and the nature of the platform makes it easy to target very specific people at specific companies with your ads (or even your content). If you’re in the B2B space, you really don’t want to overlook the targeting possibilities of this platform.
